Brown Bears Split In Topeka: Head To Texas To Face Ice Rays

The Kenai River Brown Bears opened a two-weekend, road series with a split against the Topeka (Kansas) Pilots in Kansas.

 

Kenai River 2 – Topeka 3   Friday

The Brown Bears trailed 1-0 after the first period, then matched Topeka with single goals in the second and third periods for a 3-2 Topeka Pilots victory.  Connor Scahill netted both Brown Bear goals.  Kenai River dropped its third-straight contest on Friday, the first to South Division Topeka.

 

Kenai River 5 – Topeka 2    Saturday

Following a 1-1 first period, the Kenai River Brown Bears found their offense with two goals in the second and two goals in the third period for a 5-2 victory over the Topeka Pilots on Saturday.  Michael Spethmann scored a pair of goals and single goals were scored by Zach Krajnik, Markuss Komuls and Andy Walker.

 

Kenai River travels to Corpus Christi Texas for a two-game weekend series against the Ice Rays on Friday and Saturday.

The Brown Bears currently stand at 8-5-0-1 and in third place in the Midwest Division of the North American Hockey League.
