Stars Fall To Palmer In State Hockey Semi-Final

After defeating Palmer twice in overtime in the regular season, the Palmer Moose turned-the-tables on SoHi recording a 4-3 overtime victory in the semi-final, winner’s bracket game at the ASAA Division II State Hockey Championships on Friday at the Curtis D. Menard Arena in Wasilla.

 

SoHi 3 – Palmer 4 OT

The Stars scored three, unanswered goals in the first period for a 3-0 lead.  Alex Montague scored a pair of goals and Galen Brantley III added a single goal.  The Stars scoring ended there.

 

Palmer scored two goals in the second period to draw to within a goal at 3-2 SoHi.

 

In the third period, both teams skated even until 29 seconds remaining when Darion Wilson netted the game-tying goal against SoHi goalie Josh Tree.

 

In overtime, Palmer scores the game-winner just 2:30 into the sudden-death overtime of the stick on Nelius.  Final Score: Palmer 4, SoHi 3 OT

 

The Soldotna Stars will play in the Division II 3rd Place Game scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
