Each week throughout the high school sports 2018-19 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports/Subway Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools. Player of the Game awards are also selected for each of nearly 225 high school game broadcasts including primarily coverage of football, basketball, hockey.
With high school graduations and awards ceremonies concluding on the central peninsula, KSRM Radio Group announces the KSRM/ESPN Broadcast Athletes of the Year. Each athlete must be a senior and have competed in a minimum of two varsity sports for his/her school.
For the 2018-19 school year, selected for the Kenai Central High School Kardinals is Jaycie Calvert; leading the pack for the Nikiski Bulldogs is Bethany Carstens; and representing the Soldotna Stars is Aliann Schmidt.
