Oilers Play-By-Play Announcer Earns All-American Honors

The “Voice of Peninsula Oilers Baseball” for the 2019 Alaska Baseball League season Casey Roehl has been honored as a collegiate All-American by the STAA All-America Competition.

 

The STAA All-America Competition recognizes the most outstanding collegiate radio and TV sports broadcasters.  Its mission is to encourage collegiate sportscasters to strive to achieve their best.  Each spring, the nation’s most outstanding collegiate sportscaster is presented the Jim Nantz Award, named in honor of the award winning CBS sports broadcaster.

 

Casey Roehl, 2016 graduate of Dimond High School in Anchorage, enters his fourth season working with the Peninsula Oilers and second season as the lead play-by-play announcer for Peninsula Oilers baseball broadcasts on ESPN 1140AM and www.radiokenai.com.

 

Roehl, recently completed his junior year at Indiana University working towards his degree in Journalism/Sports Media.  Roehl is the first UI student to earn STAA All-American status.
