The Peninsula Oilers couldn’t pump any oil against the Anchorage Bucs on Thursday. An 11-1 loss against the Bucs on the 2019 Alaska Baseball League season opener at Mulcahy Stadium.
The Oilers (0-1) take on the Bucs (1-0) in game two of the season opening series at 7 p.m. Friday at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage.

The Bucs scored early and often against Oilers starter Jonathan Carlos in his two-inning outing on Thursday. After stranding a pair of runners in scoring position in the first, the Bucs unloaded for four runs against Carlos in the second, including a two-run single, and two-run homer to put Anchorage up 4-0 after two innings.
Anchorage added additional runs in the third (3), fourth (1) and eighth (3) innings against the Oilers for a total of 11 runs to open their season.
The Oilers scored their lone run of the game on a Victor Carlino RBI single in the top of the fifth inning, plating Camden Vasquez. Carlino went 1-4 at the plate in the loss.
Oilers reliever Jacob Reed tossed three scoreless innings in relief to register the lone scoreless outing of the night for Oilers pitchers.
Oilers Schedule
The Oilers take on the Bucs in the second game of the season Friday at Mulcahy Stadium at 7 p.m., the second of a five-game road trip to begin the 2019 ABL season before the Oilers take the field at Coral Seymour Memorial Park on June 12 in the 2019 home opener against the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks.
