The Kenai Fire Department responded to a report of a tree on a power line, around 12:34pm, on Friday.
KFD dispatched an engine company and command vehicle to 5360 Ridgeview Court.
Kenai Fire Chief Jeff Tucker: “We were called out to a report of tree on a power line. We arrived on scene, we found a live line on the ground and it caused a probably 40 x 40 fire, in the grasses and on one tree.”
After assessing the scene, Homer Electric Association and State Forestry were requested to the scene.
Once HEA confirmed that there was no power to the line, two units from Forestry were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
The Kenai Fire Department reminds all home owners to be on the lookout for dead trees on their property that might impinge on a power line, and call HEA with any questions.
