Peninsula Oilers Open Homestand Against Anchorage Glacier Pilots Thursday

Fresh off an eight-game road trip (2-6), the Peninsula Oilers open their longest homestand of the season, a total of 11 games, with a five-game series against the Anchorage Glacier Pilots beginning Thursday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

 

Thursday’s game one between the Oilers and the Pilots is scheduled for a 7 p.m. first pitch.  Friday and Saturday will also be 7 p.m. game times with Sunday set for a 2 p.m. matinee.  Monday closes the Pilots series with an earlier 6 p.m. “get-away” game.  The Pilots are 2-0 against the Oilers in Alaska Baseball League play.

 

Oilers notables:

The Oilers stand in first in the ABL in team batting average at .266.  Oilers utility man Connor McCord is 8 of 16 over his last five games.

Oilers pitching holds the dubious lead the Alaska Baseball League in walks (129), hit batters (22) wild pitches (35) and ERA (4.95).

 

Pilots notables:

The Anchorage pitching staff has the lowest team ERA (2.79) in the league.
