Twins Split To Open Bill Miller Baseball Tournament

The annual Bill Miller Big Fish Wood Bat Tournament, an American Legion Baseball invitation tournament hosted by the Kenai Post 20 Twins, opened competition on Tuesday, July 2nd with four games at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

 

The tournament features teams from the lower 48 which includes Auburn Post 20, Rhode Island and Napolean Post 300 (River Bandits), Ohio.  Alaska based teams include Eagle River and the host Post 20 Twins.

 

The Post 20 Twins split a pair of games on Tuesday opening with a 12-2 victory over Eagle River and closing the first day of competition with a 10-1 loss to Auburn.

Twins 12 – Eagle River 2

The Twins posted a five-run third inning to break a 2-2 tie and rolled to a 12-1 (five inning run rule) victory over Eagle River.  Post 20 collected 10 hits and Harold Ochea threw five innings for the Twins recording four strike outs and allowing three hits.

Twins 1 – Auburn 10

The Auburn, Rhode Island baseball club defeated the Post 20 Twins 10-1 in the final game of the first day of the Bill Miller tournament.  The Twins managed only two hits.  Twins starter Logan Smith surrendered five, unearned runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Thursday, July 4:  All Games @ Oilers Park
9 a.m. Championship Game
12 p.m.  Third Place Game
