The much anticipated for the Salmon Run Series for the summer of 2019 featured about 125 runners in the 5-kilometer event and some 40 kids in the 1-kilometer kids run and one very notable participant.

Allie Ostrander, the three-time national champion in the NCAA Womens 3000M steeplechase and the fastest collegiate runner in the Women’s 10,000M, mingled among and was surrounded by a crowd of athletes and friends getting a chance to say hello to the central peninsula’s own Allie Ostrander.

Allie is the founder of the Salmon Run Series creating the Salmon Run as part of her Caring For The Kenai project in 2012 and has been an active organizer and participant since its induction; except when her running calls her away to compete in events like the US national championships.

Allie has now signed a professional contract to compete in track and discussed the details of “turning pro”.
