CIA Opens Co-Ed Soccer Season Saturday In Palmer

Looking to duplicate their undefeated Borealis Conference regular season run of 2018 and improve on their conference championships performance that ended the 2018 co-ed soccer season, the Cook Inlet Academy soccer team opens play on Saturday in Palmer against Our Lady of the Valley (WLCS) at noon on the Palmer MTA Fields.

 

Cook Inlet Academy posted a 10-0 regular season Borealis Conference record and an overall record of 12-1 in 2018, earning the top seed into the Borealis Conference championships.  A 2-2 tournament record placed the Eagles fourth in the season-ending tournament.

 

2108 Borealis Conference Coach of the Year Kenny Leaf leads the Eagles into the 2019 fall co-ed soccer season.

Eagles Close Soccer Season With Back-To-Back Tournament Losses

The Cook Inlet Academy co-ed soccer team closed play at the Borealis Conference Soccer Championships with a 3rd-place game loss on Saturday.  The Eagles fell to Wasilla Lake Christian on Saturday 3-2 to finish tournament play at 2-2 and in 4th place.  CIA entered the tournament undefeated against conference teams and 15-1 on the season.

Saturday Elimination Game

On Saturday, the Eagles defeated Tri-Valley 3-2 on penalty kicks to advance to the third-place contest.  Sophie Nelson, Jiabao Leaf and James Anderson scoring penalty kicks; Lucas Cragg recording victory in goal.

Third Place Game:  Wasilla Lake 3 – CIA 2

The CIA Eagles built a 2-0 lead in the 3rd-place game’s first half; however, failed to score in the second half while allowing three, unanswered goals to Wasilla Lake in the second half.  Adara Warren and Hunter Moos scored for the Eagles.
