On Senior Day at Soldotna High School, the SoHi Stars football team with all seniors on both sides of the ball, dominated Eagle River building a 69-0 lead at the half; then, SoHi gave all of the starters the second half off as the Stars closed-out the Wolves 81-7 in Northern Lights Conference football action.
On a day with twelve touchdowns, ten for the offense and two for the defense, it was the SoHi defense that set the tone for the Stars’ sixth-straight victory. The Stars forced five, first quarter punts by Eagle River, each resulting in a SoHi touchdown. In the second quarter Eagle River chose not to punt and to attempt to retain possession by going on fourth down. That strategy resulted in two rushing touchdowns, one interception for a touchdown and one fumble recovery for a touchdown for SoHi. Half time score: SoHi 69, Eagle River 0.
The second half belonged to the SoHi reserves and the future of SoHi football. The Stars added a pair of rushing touchdowns and allowed a single score.
Final score: SoHi 81, Eagle River 7.
