Stars Cap Unbeaten Regular Season With 57-12 Win Over Kardinals

Five rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, an interception for a touchdown and the Soldotna juggernaut continues to roll; as the Soldotna Stars closed-out an unbeaten regular season with a 57-12 victory over the Kenai Kardinals at KCHS on Saturday.

 

SoHi 57 – Kenai 12

The Stars opened the scoring with a 14-yard touchdown run for Wyatt Medcoff, followed by a 2-yard touchdown run by Aaron Faletoi, followed by an interception return for a touchdown by defensive corner Tyler Morrison; and the Stars lead 21-0 with only six offensive plays from scrimmage.  On the next possession, Medcoff added his second score with a 1-yard run following a 22-yard run to the one yard line.  SoHi lead 28-0 after one quarter.

 

In the second quarter, SoHi added a 20-yard touchdown pass to Galen Brantley III and a 4-yard touchdown pass to Zach Hanson, both from quarterback Jersey Truesdell.  A 10-yard Faletoi touchdown run ended the first half scoring at SoHi 49, Kenai 0.  That ended the day for the starting seniors from Soldotna High.

 

The Stars recorded their final score on the final play of third quarter on a Dennis Smith 1-yard run.  Kenai added a pair of Tucker Vann touchdown runs, one of 2 yards and one of 34 yards.

Final Score: SoHi 57 – Kenai 12

 

The Stars finish the regular season 7-0 and 3-0 in the NLC; Kenai posts a 1-6 overall record.  The Stars own a 16-game win streak, the longest current win streak in Alaska football.

The Stars will host a Division II first round playoff game on Friday, October 11th at 5 p.m. at Justin Maile Field.
