Soldotna hockey completed a three-game sweep of Valley schools with a 4-2 victory over Division I Wasilla on Saturday.
SoHi 4 – Wasilla 2
The Stars and Warrriors skated scoreless through the first period then combined for six goals in the final 20 minutes, as the SoHi hockey team downs Wasilla 4-2 in non-divisional hockey action in Wasilla on Saturday.
SoHi opened the scoring with a Brier Brooks goal midway through the second period (9:05) and lead 1-0 into the third period.
Silas Larsen gave the Stars a two-goal lead with a goal at 4:27 of the third period. Wasilla quickly retied the game on bask-to-back goals in a two minute span.
With two minutes remaining in regulation Galen Brantley III staked the Stars to a 3-2 lead with a break-away goal (13:28) off a Journey Miler assist. The Stars added an empty-net goal with :13 seconds remaining for the 4-2 non-conference win. Josh Tree recorded 27 saves in goal for the Stars.
For the weekend, SoHi sweeps three-straight with a 7-1 win over Houston, a 2-0 win over Palmer and a 4-2 defeat of the Warriors. The Stars improve to 6-1 in the Railbelt Conference with three conference games scheduled for the final week of the regular season.
