SoHi Hockey Opens State With 6-1 Victory Over Houston

The Soldotna Star hockey team posted a decisive 6-1 victory over Houston High School in the ASAA Division II State Hockey Championships opening round on Thursday in Fairbanks.

 

SoHi 6 – Houston 1

The #2 seeded Stars scored six goals in two periods of hockey and coasted to a 6-1 first-round win over #7 seed Houston on the ice at the Patty Ice Arena at UAF.

SoHi goals were recorded by Brier Books and Journey Miller in the first period; Trent Powell, David Aley, Journey Miller, Galen Brantley III in the second period.

 

SoHi advances to the winner’s bracket, semi-final on Friday at 7:30 p.m. to face the Palmer Moose, 5-3 winner’s over Glennallen in the state tournament’s first game.
