To coincide with Soldotna’s RiverFest celebration, Kenai River Brewery is inviting members of the public to join them at Wolverine Trail Head on Saturday, February 15, for their Pre-Frozen RiverFest Social Ski event.
Doug Hogue, owner of Kenai River Brewery: “So, we’re really just gonna put it out as a social ski. Anybody can come. There’s six 1KM loops. I’m gonna bring root beer, too, so if kids want to do something like that, they can drink the root beer. It’s like a little kick-off; it gets you outside a little bit so you’re moving outside before you go stand around and consume beer.”
Doug says that the Pre-Frozen Riverfest Micro-Ski is not new, but rather, has gathered quite a following, even among other breweries: “We did this the very first Frozen RiverFest, and it was a blast! It was super cold. I think it’s going to be kinda chilly in the morning, so it makes it fun – the beer starts to get slushy. I tried to get some brewers to participate, and really, the one that I know will do it this year is Louie’s from Bear Creek (Bear Creek Winery). So, he’s coming out. He did the first year and just had a blast. Every year since then, he asks, ‘Are you gonna do that again? Are you gonna do it again’ So…”
The event is free and welcome to folks of all-ages. Wolverline Trail Head is located at Tsalteshi Ski Trails and will be the home to this six-lap social ski.
