Conference basketball in both the Southcentral and Northern Lights conferences opened with a full slate of contests on Friday.
Nikiski vs Houston: Southcentral Conference
Nikiski Girls 44. – Houston 25
The Nikiski girls improved to 4-1 in the Southcentral Conference with a 44-25 victory over the Houston Hawks. America Jefferies scored 12 points to lead the Bulldogs.
Nikiski Boys 43 – Houston 62
The Bulldogs fell 62-43 to the Hawks, trailing 33-15 at the half. Noah Litke lead the Bulldogs with 18 points.
Kenai vs Grace Christian: Southcentral Conference
Kenai Girls 42 – Grace 40
Kenai Boys 24 – Grace 36
SoHi vs Colony: Northern Lights Conference
SoHi Girls 33 – Colony 40
The SoHi girls rallied late; however, could not overcome a 14-point, halftime deficit as Colony downed SoHi 40-33 in NLC action. SoHi trailed 34-20 at the half and held Colony to one field goal in the second half. Itu Tuisaula lead the Stars with 15 points. The Knights improve to 4-1 in the NLC and SoHi falls to 3-3.
SoHi Boys 33 – Colony 60
The Colony boys overwhelmed SoHi 60-33, opening a 24-10 lead at the half and extending to a 20-point advantage after three quarters. SoHi’s offense was held in check with no player scoring in double figures.
