Nikiski Girls To Play ACS In SCC Title Game Saturday

The 2020 Southcentral Conference Basketball Championships continued play on Friday at Anchorage Christian School with a full slate of consolation and winner’s bracket contest.

The Nikiski girls and Kenai girls meet in the girls winner’s bracket on Friday night at ACS with Nikiski advancing to the championship game at 4 pm. on Saturday and the Kenai moving to the 3^rd-5^th place game against Seward at noon on Saturday.

Nikiski Girls – Kenai Girls

The Bulldog girls advance to play ACS in the girls championship game on Saturday.

Nikiski opened up a 19-9 lead in the first half and extended to a 32-19 advantage after three quarters, en route to a 37-25 victory over Kenai.  Bailey Epperheimer lead the Bulldogs with 10 points; Damaris Severson topped the Kards with 9 points.

Kenai Boys 78 – Redington 39

The Kenai Kardinal boys ran-away from Redington 78-39 to advance to Saturday’s 4^th-6^th Place game, scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Kenai lead 34-21 at the half and built a near 40-point advantage while playing all 12 players on the Kenai roster.   Evan Stockton lead Kenai with 23 points and Maison Dunham added 14 for the Kardinals.

Nikiski Boys 56 – Houston 65 OT

The Nikiski boys lead through 3 ½ quarters of basketball before Houston tied the game and forced overtime for a 65-56 Hawks victory.  Nikiski lead 31-20 at the half and the Bulldogs lead 41-38 entering the fourth quarter.  Tied 49-49, the game went to overtime.  Houston and Nikiski both scored two field goals in the overtime; however, Houston connected on 12 of 12 from the free throw line in the overtime for the victory.  Houston advances to the 4^th-6^th place game to face Kenai.
