The Kenai Peninsula Food Bank has received a $5,000 grant as part of a distribution from The Alaska Fund, a fund built by the generosity of Alaskans over a 5-year campaign that ended in 2018. This unrestricted endowment fund has provided support for nonprofits providing basic needs for Alaskans and will, in turn, support those struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Alaska Community Foundation and its eleven Affiliate community foundations collaborated to make grants to 23 vital nonprofits across Alaska. These grants will support food pantries and services, domestic violence shelters, senior services, and more. In a release, they stated that supporting Alaska’s nonprofits is essential to providing basic needs to all Alaskans, and that it is their goal to continually support these essential causes, so they have the resources to succeed when needed most.
This year, $55,000 in grants went to support the following nonprofits across Alaska:
- Cordova: $2,500 to Cordova Community Medical Center for the Sound Alternatives program, and $2,500 to Cordova Family Resource Center
