The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported five new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. The total positive case count in the state now stands at 277. Four of the new cases are from Anchorage while one is out of Juneau.

These cases are reported using the state’s timetable of reporting counts: 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on April 12.

Among the numbers released by health officials are the “recovered” patients, meaning people who no longer require isolation as state epidemiologists deem them as “free of the disease.”  The total of recovered patients, as of Monday’s update, stands at 85 out of the 277 total positive cases that have been reported. That marks 19 new recoveries.

One new hospitalization has been reported, upping the state total to 32.  No new deaths have been reported, keeping the total at eight.
