The Kenai Peninsula Borough Solid Waste Department has released changes to their services, through the duration of the month of May.
The May 2020 Hazardous Waste Collection Days for Soldotna, Seward, and Homer are cancelled. They anticipate July 2020 events to resume as normal.
Also, KPB Solid Waste facilities will continue to be closed Sundays through May 24, which is an expansion. Facilities closed include Central Peninsula Landfill, Homer Transfer Facility, Seward Transfer Facility, Kenai, Nikiski, and Sterling Transfer Facilities, and Kasilof Transfer Site. Additionally, the Cooper Landing Transfer Site will also be closed on Sundays from May 3 through May 24.
Also of note, the following ‘electronics recycle’ events have been postponed until further notice:
- Soldotna, scheduled for May 4;
- Homer, also originally scheduled for May 4;
- Seward, originally scheduled for May 11.
There has not yet been word on rescheduled dates for these events.
For more information, as well as updates regarding changes to service dates, residents are advised to contact the Solid Waste Department at (907) 262-9667 or e-mail solidwaste@kpb.us.
