The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. The total positive case count in the state now stands at 277. One new death was also announced, bringing the state total to nine.

These cases are reported using the state’s timetable of reporting counts: 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on April 13.

Four of the eight new positive cases were aged 20-29, three were aged 30-39, and one was aged 40-49.

Among the numbers released by health officials are the “recovered” patients, meaning people who no longer require isolation as state epidemiologists deem them as “free of the disease.”  The total of recovered patients, as of Tuesday’s update, stands at 98 out of the 285 total positive cases that have been reported. That marks 13 new recoveries.

No new hospitalizations have been reported, leaving the state total at 32.
