Each week throughout the high school sports 2019-20 competitive seasons, KSRM/ESPN selects a Peninsula Sports/Subway Athlete of the Week from each of the central peninsula’s three public high schools. Player of the Game awards, sponsored by Soldotna Pizza Boys, are also selected for each of nearly 225 high school game broadcasts including primarily coverage of football, basketball, hockey.
With high school graduations and awards ceremonies concluding on the central peninsula, KSRM Radio Group announces the KSRM/ESPN Broadcast Athletes of the Year. Each athlete must be a senior and have competed in a minimum of two varsity sports for his/her school.
For the 2019-20 school year, selected for the Kenai Central High School Kardinals is Braedon Pitsch; leading the pack for the Nikiski Bulldogs is Kaitlyn Johnson; and representing the Soldotna Stars is Jersey Truesdell.
Kenai Central High School: Braedon Pitsch
Braedon Pitsch has signed a national Letter of Intent to play collegiate soccer at Oklahoma Baptist University.
Nikiski High School: Kaitlyn Johnson
Kaitlyn Johnson has committed to play volleyball at George Fox University in Newberg, Oregon.
Soldotna High School: Jersey Truesdell
Jersey Truesdell has signed a national Letter of Intent to play collegiate basketball at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
