The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services reported 20 new positive COVID-19 cases in their Tuesday update, including five in the Kenai Peninsula Borough. Three cases are out of Kenai, one case out of Nikiski, and one case is out of Homer.
This follows ten cumulative cases from the Kenai Peninsula over the weekend, and four new cases yesterday. Governor Mike Dunleavy held a press conference after the announcement of 27 new state cases on Sunday, during which he noted that there is no reason to panic.
The number of active cases of COVID-19 patients in the state is 106. This marks the highest active case count since April 18 when the active count was 108.
No new deaths have been reported, with that total remaining at ten fatalities.
These cases are reported using the state’s timetable of reporting counts: 12:00 a.m. until 11:59 p.m. on June 1.
