Arrests Made Following Kenai Beach Assault

As KSRM reported yesterday, the Kenai Police Department launched an investigation into an assault that occurred on Monday, after they received multiple calls and inquiries from individuals who saw the incident via a video of it that was captured and posted online to multiple social media outlets.

 

According to a Friday statement from the Kenai Police Department, on July 8, a 15-year old male and a 17 year-old male from Kenai were each arrested for Assault in the fourth degree and transported to Kenai Youth Detention Facility. Also on July 9, Elijah Royal-Reyna, age 19 of Kenai, was issued a summons to court for Assault in the fourth degree. The investigation into the attack is ongoing.

 

In Alaska state code, Assault in the fourth degree is a Class A misdemeanor. It is defined as when a person recklessly causes physical injury to another person; with criminal negligence, that person causes physical injury to another person by means of a dangerous instrument; or by words or other conduct, that person recklessly places another person in fear of imminent physical injury.
