The City of Soldotna will discuss a resolution to adopt the city’s five-year capital plan for fiscal years 2021 through 2025. The five-year plan is intended to present a projection of capital needs with consideration given to project scheduling, as well as fiscal and manpower constraints.

Resolution 2020-035 will be introduced during the City Council’s Wednesday, July 21 meeting at 6:00 p.m.

The resolution notes that it is expected that the plan be frequently revisited and amended as priorities, needs, and funding sources change, but that planning for capital needs over the next five years is a priority.

A total of 15 projects are noted utilizing the General Fund, and 12 projects utilizing the Utility Fund. Not all will be funded, which is why the plan is revisited annually, but projects are planned for to keep them on-schedule. Among the projects mentioned in the plan are $1,250,000 for CARES Act-funded projects, $5,000,000 towards an expansion of the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex Conference Center, construction of a mechanic shop at Arbor Avenue o cost $2,000,000, and $50,000 towards the repair of damaged manholes along K-Beach.

The public is invited to attend City Council meetings in-person, but the city requests that attendees wear face coverings, practice good hygiene, and not show up if showing symptoms of being sick. They will also air the meeting online at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.
