In Fairbanks, State Troopers attempted a traffic stop a little after 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday involving a vehicle that ran a red light and struck a curb. The driver was a 13 year-old boy.
The child ran from law enforcement on foot but was subsequently located and detained. The investigation revealed the vehicle had been stolen on July 20. Per the request of Juvenile Probations, the boy was not arrested: rather, he was released to a family member.
A black semi-automatic pistol was located in the stolen vehicle. Troopers ask that anyone with knowledge of the possible firearms contact them. The State Troopers in Fairbanks can be contacted at (907) 451-5100.
Trooper Dispatch also noted that the same boy was the passenger on a stolen snow machine on March 12, 2018.
