The Alliance of Alaska Baseball state baseball championship crowned West Anchorage as ABL champs on Wednesday at Mulcahy Park in Anchorage; as the Eagles rallied from a 2-0 deficit in the seventh inning for the 3-2 win over Wasilla.
Trailing 2-0 in the seventh inning and down to their final out, West scored three runs on three hits including a game-winning Jack Opinsky two-run single which drove in the tying and winning runs.
West won its first baseball title since 1977; Wasilla lost its second-straight, state championship game (the Warriors advanced to the final in 2019).
