18 Kenai Peninsula Residents Tested Positive For COVID-19 This Weekend

The Department of Health and Social Services announced 193 new cases of COVID-19 in Alaska over the weekend, combined across Saturday and Sunday’s reports. One new death was also announced in Saturday’s report.

 

Seven of the cases were residents of Soldotna, four residents of Kenai, three were residents of Sterling, two Homer residents, and one resident out of both Seward and Anchor Point.

 

The majority of the state’s new cases among residents came from Anchorage where 86 residents were positive.

 

There are currently 2,994 active cases of COVID-19 among Alaska residents. 243 of those cases are residents of the Kenai Peninsula. Among those, 71 are in Soldotna, 48 in Kenai, 47 in Seward, 37 in Homer, and 20 in Sterling.

 

The Kenai Peninsula’s rate of daily tests with positive results has sat close to 3.0% over the past week. It was 2.96% on the August 15 report and 2.88% on the August 16 report.
