SoHi Battles Homer In First Central Peninsula Football Contest Under COVID Protocols

With restrictions and safe-guards in place, the Soldotna Stars football program will host the Homer Mariners on Saturday, September 5th at Justin Maile Field at SoHi.

The SoHi vs Homer game will be the first regulation game played by a Central Peninsula football team in the revamped 2020 fall sports season.

Braodcast on ESPN 1140AM and streamed live at radiokenai.com   Pregame Show begins at 1:45 p.m.

The Central Peninsula currently stands in the Medium “Yellow” Risk Level which allows for competition, under mitigation plans and protocols.  Soldotna High, Kenai Central and Nikiski High all fall under the Medium Risk Level designation.  Homer is classified in the Southern Peninsula and continues to play under the Low “Green” Risk Level, with few restrictions and protocols.

Field Capacity

Maximum capacity for spectators is 450 (this number includes reserved seating) at Justin Maile Field.

…SoHi will have 180 reserved seats for family members of the players (max of three family members per athlete – additional family members may enter as general public)

…Parents/siblings of the players will identify which player they are representing

…Gate will keep track of represented players

…Homer will be provided 60 reserved seats

…Parents/siblings of the players will identify the player they are representing (max of two family members per athlete – additional family members may enter as general public)

…Gate will keep track of represented players

…There will be 210 seats available to the general public

…If the max capacity number is reached, all gates will be shut down

…Guests exiting after the JV will be tracked in order to keep track of the total attendance

Spectator Guidelines

…All spectators must wear masks and adhere to the social distancing markers

…General public restrooms are located at the north entrance (by the concession stand)

…The main school building will be locked and not accessible

…There will be no concessions or sale of baked goods for this event

…SoHi football apparel will be available for purchase near the north gate
