The Soldotna football team overpowered Kenai in every aspect of the game on Saturday recording a 58-14 victory over the Kardinals with the starting units on offense and defense playing only slightly more than one quarter of football.
SoHi’s defense lead the Stars forcing two fumbles, three turnovers on downs and two punts on Kenai’s first seven possessions; the Stars offense scored on its first seven possessions, each starting in Kenai territory. The Stars retired their starters in the second quarter and SoHi’s depth of roster played out the remainder of the contest.
SoHi 58 – Kenai 14
The Soldotna Stars returned the opening kick-off 85 yards by Josh Heiber and following a first-play fumble by Kenai, SoHi scored on its first play from scrimmage on a 20-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brock Wilson to tight end Josh Pieh. Thirty-two seconds into the game and SoHi lead 14-0 and the Stars never looked back. The Stars lead 42-0 after one quarter and 52-7 at the half. Running clock for the second half limited both teams to single touchdowns.
