A residential fire was reported at a house in Kasilof Saturday afternoon.
Central Emergency Services tells KSRM news that they were dispatched to a house fire when a caller on the Sterling Highway at mile marker 105 saw black smoke above the tree line.
The first Central Emergency Services fire engine arrived at 12:25 p.m. to find a split level log home with fire in the rear of the house, that extended to the roof. Nearby buildings on the lot were not in danger. The fire was quickly extinguished to the exterior back of the house, while crews were inside searching for occupants. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes, no one was found inside and crews worked on fire overhaul.
The residence was damage, but not destroyed. There were no injuries.
CES says two engines, a tanker, ambulance, and the Kenai Fire Department responded with a mutual aid tanker. 15 firefighters were on the scene. Soldotna Alaska State Troopers remained on the scene.
Circumstances of the fire are under ongoing investigation.
