In-spite-of a proposal by Fairbanks to allow Lathrop High School a replacement entry into the Division II football playoffs, the Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA) re-affirmed on Monday that the Soldotna Stars will advance to the Division II Football Championship Game. ASAA rejected the change to the Division II format and upheld the current brackets for the high school football championships at three different divisions.
Division II Football Playoffs
SoHi, with the bye until October 24th, will play the winner of the Palmer vs West Valley semi-final football game scheduled for October 17th. Eagle River, the DII entry from the Anchorage School District, has forfeited the semi-final vs SoHi due to a 14-day quarantine of the football program because of close-contact with positive case. The site for the Division II championship games will be released following the Palmer/ West Valley game.
Division III Semi-final Round: October 17 & 19
The Division III playoffs advance to the semi-final pairings with the Homer Mariners team continuing its 14-day covid quarantine through Octoer 17th, forcing a scheduled change to a proposed Monday, October 19th playoff game between Homer and Redington High School @ Redington High School.
