Kenai Peninsula Volleyball Championships: Kenai 3 -SoHi 2
The Kenai Kardinal volleyball team completed an undefeated season with a Kenai Peninsula Volleyball Tournament championship on Saturday, downing the Soldotna Stars in three-straight 25-20, 27-25 and 25-19 at KCHS in the championship final.
Kenai topped the Stars in game one 25-20.
Game two proved to be the best of the day with Kenai rallying from a 24-17 deficit by recording five, straight points to tie the game at 24-24; then downing SoHi 27-25.
Game three belonged to Kenai with the Kardinals leading 20-12 early and holding off SoHi for the 25-19 victory.
Kenai completes the 2020 abbreviated season unbeaten in head-to-head competition. The volleyball season was limited to peninsula play only and was restricted in games and practices due to COVID-19 protocols.
The Kenai Peninsula Volleyball tournament was the culminating event for the Kenai Peninsula volleyball season.
Kenai Peninsula Volleyball Semi-Final: SoHi 3 – Homer 2
The Soldotna Stars defeated the Homer Mariners 16-14 in the decisive fifth game of the semi-final match of the Kenai Peninsula Volleyball Championships on Saturday at Kenai Central High School.
The Stars and Mariners traded blows throughout with both teams recording two wins to force a final game five ( to 15, must win by two) championship showdown.
Tied at 10-10 in the final game, Homer took a 12-10 advantage on a SoHi service error; SoHi rallied to tie the match at 12-12. Homer and SoHi re-tied at 14-14. The Stars take a 15-14 advantage on a Homer service error. SoHi closes the match with a Taylor Edwards kill. SoHi 16- Homer 14.
The SoHi victory advanced the Stars to the championship game against the Kenai Kardinals. SoHi won three matches on Saturday to advance to play the Kardinals.

The Kardinals produced a three-game sweep of Homer 25-19, 25-20 and 25-17 to advance to the championship game.
Soldotna 3, Nikiski 1
The Stars kept moving along in the playback bracket at Soldotna.
Sarah Rice recorded 12 kills and five aces.

Morgan Bouschor recorded nine kills for the Stars.
