Wintry weather and the warm-up of temperatures Saturday night into Sunday made for a difficult combination as many woke up finding themselves without power this morning, according to Homer Electric Association.
In Kenai, a transmission line fell, causing a large outage that resulted in Homer Electric Association unable to update their outage map this morning.
Bruce Shelley, Public Information Officer with Homer Electric Association said several power outages happened in Kenai, Sterling and Nikiski overnight. Up to 1,500 people were without power this morning between 6:00 and 7:00 A.M.
As of 3:00 P.M. Sunday, there were still outages affecting 105 people in the Nikiski area as well as an outage affecting 62 in Sterling.
