48-year-old Raymond Speed of Soldotna was arrested for driving under the influence, according to Alaska State Troopers.
The dispatch received a 911 call reporting a dangerous driver that ran a red light and had driven over a large concrete median into the opposing lanes of travel at the intersection of the Sterling and Kenai Spur Highways in Soldotna.
The vehicle, driven by Speed, was located and stopped. A subsequent investigation revealed that Speed was impaired by alcoholic beverages.
He was arrested for driving under the influence. Troopers report that Speed has several prior DUI convictions to include a prior felony level DUI conviction within the last 10 years making this incident a felony level DUI.
Speed was remanded at Wildwood pretrial and his truck was impounded pending a DUI seizure.
