With fresh snow and groomed trails at Kincaid Park in Anchorage, The Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage hosted a pair of Nordic skiing events which featured past Olympians, current collegiate skiers, and skiers from U-18 through U-10 in two days of competition, opening the competitive cross country ski season for Alaskan skiers.
NSAA Solstice Freestyle: Sunday Results
The NSAA Solstice 10-kilometer women’s freestyle race on Sunday was highlighted by a 1-2-3 finish by past Olympic skiers lead by two-time Olympian Sadie Maubet Bjornsen. Rosie Frankowski, a 2018 Winter Olympian and 2018 Olympian Jessica Yeaton finished second and third, respectively.
The NSAA Solstice 10-kilometer men’s freestyle race on Sunday featured Hunter Wonders, 2018 World Junior Championships relay silver medalist, topping the field.
Kenai Central High School graduate Karl Danielson (class of 2018) placed 19th overall in the men’s division of the 10-kilometer freestyle.

NSAA Solstice Freestyle: Saturday Results
Sadie Maubet Bjornsen outraced the field on Saturday in the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage’s FIS Solstice Sprint. Three-time World Junior medalist Luke Jager won the men’s 1.4-kilometer classic-technique race.
Karl Danielson of Kenai, placed 16th overall in the men’s division of the 1.4-kilometer sprint.
