A Sterling man was arrested for driving under the influence and other related charges over this past weekend.
A traffic stop was conducted by Alaska State Troopers around 2:00 a.m. on February 27th for a 2004 Honda SUV near Dutch Landing and Fontaine Court. The driver attempted to evade troopers and ran into a snow berm.
The driver was identified as 30-year-old Kiefer Riss of Sterling. An investigation revealed he was under the influence. Riss told Alaska State Troopers that he provided a ride to a hitchhiker in exchange for methamphetamine and a meth pipe days ago. Riss also had a loaded .22 rifle in his vehicle at the time of his arrest.
He was arrested, transported and remanded to Wildwood Pretrial on driving under the influence, violation of conditions of release and 4th degree misconduct involving a weapon.
