Fourth quarter just began for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, but today (Wednesday, March 17) is an early release day for students. School will end 60 minutes early for students today. Buses will also run 60 minutes earlier than normal at the end of the day.
Kenai Peninsula Borough School District Superintendent John O’Brien spoke to KSRM, “Even though we’re just back from Spring Break, just a reminder to parents that Wednesday (today) will be a regularly planned early release day. We’ll be releasing 60 minutes earlier than normal. We’ve got some important training for staff as we approach the PEAKS statewide testing, which is going to be going on this year, unlike last year due to COVID when it was canceled. We had learned from the department of education that PEAKS testing for students in April must happen this year. So, a little bit of training for our staff.”
Students will meet the minimum day requirement, leaving teachers with additional time to work on improvement strategies. On early release days, afternoon PreK sessions are canceled, however morning PreK sessions do occur. The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District reminds parents and families to check with your school as they will have further details based on school schedules.
