The Seward DMV temporarily closed due to both employees who are trained to operate it decided to suddenly resign and move away, according to a press release. Seward Police Chief Alan Nickell states that it’s an unforeseeable circumstance and an incredible coincidence. The absence of the two employees leaves a large void and makes operation of the Seward DMV nearly impossible, the police department states, until new people can be hired and trained.
The Seward Police Department will be filling the positions and secure training for the new hires as quickly as possible, but admits that the DMV is anticipated to be closed till at least June 2021 due to the length and the amount of training required to get back into full operation.
Additionally, the Seward Police Department has reached out to neighboring DMVs in search of a trained temporary fill in person who can take over in the interim.
