The month of May is approaching and that means the Shop Here All Year In Kenai program is coming to an end soon. The shop local program incentivizes people across the Kenai Peninsula to spend $100 on discretionary items at any store in the City of Kenai to receive a $50 voucher to spend at a local participating business. You also could spend $200 (or more) on discretionary items at any Kenai store and receive a $100 voucher to spend at a local participating business. The original program conclusion date was scheduled for April 1st, but the city extended the conclusion date to May 1st for people to turn in the receipts.
Brittany Brown, Executive Director for the Kenai Chamber of Commerce spoke to KSRM, “This week being the last week in April I wanted to just remind everyone that the Shop Here All Year In Kenai program will be coming to a close on May 1st. The Kenai Chamber will be closed on May 1st, which is a Saturday, but individuals will still be able to apply online that day until 5:00 p.m. At 5:00 p.m. the online submissions will close. If folks still have their receipts to turn in, they can still do so for another few days in person at the Kenai Visitor’s Center. The Kenai Chamber is open Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We encourage anybody who still has those receipts to come on by.”
Brown notes that depending on which business you shop at will depend on how you spend the voucher, “Every business is a little different. Some of them are asking individuals to use the vouchers in its entirety with their first purchase. Some are allowing for them to get their gift card, exchange it for a gift card to make sure that they are able to get that money if they aren’t able to use it all in one visit. Businesses have different restrictions on their vouchers so I just encourage folks to check with businesses that they’re looking to get them with.”
