A burnt fan motor at KCHS reportedly triggered the fire alarms this morning. As a result, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District reports that kids are being sent home for the day.
Pegge Erkeneff, Director of Communications, Community and Government relations for the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District spoke to KSRM saying that everyone is safe, “There was a small fire at Kenai Central this morning. It was immediately responded to and everybody evacuated to Kenai Middle School. Based on fumes and the smell in the school, the fire is contained. The students will be sent home today and school is canceled. At this time, busses are picking up kids who ride the bus. Parents are being called. The school is reaching out to all their families.”
