GCI has announced that it has reached an agreement with Vision Alaska and Coastal Television to broadcast ABC, FOX and CW channels for its customers statewide.
Josh Edge, GCI Media Relations Specialist spoke with KSRM, “GCI was able to reach a new agreement with Coastal Television and Vision Alaska, the provider that provides the programming to GCI for the ABC, FOX and CW channels over the weekend here and channels were restored to GCI customers statewide on Saturday afternoon. Very excited and very grateful that we were able to make that happen and bring that programming to our customers.”
Some positive news is that this contract negotiation will come at no additional cost to current GCI customers, “We were able to agree to a contract price that will not increase the monthly bill for our customers as a result of this contract negotiation.”
GCI was required to suspend television service for ABC, FOX and CW channels in January when the previous programming agreement expired and contract negotiations stalled.
When asked how the contract negotiations went, Edge said, “GCI successfully negotiates the contracts for over 300 channels that our customers have access to each and as the contract process goes on, we’re renegotiating a lot of those contracts each and every year. Unfortunately, I can’t go into the specific terms of this contract but this is something we do often and we do well and unfortunately we run into challenges form time to time.”
Now, GCI customers can once again watch their favorite programs on ABC, FOX and CW like The Masked Singer, Grey’s Anatomy and the NBA Playoffs.
