The 2021 Southcentral Conference Baseball Tournament championship game featured the #1 seed Kodiak and #2 seed Palmer with the tournament title and #1 seed to the Division II state baseball tournament on the line.
Palmer 8 – Kodiak 7
Palmer scored early and lead 8-6 into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Kodiak Bears score a single run in the seventh; however, managed only four hits for the game, including a three-run home run by Micah Arndt.
Palmer claims the Southcentral Conference championship and earn the #1 seed from the conference to the ASAA Division II State Baseball Championships.
Kodiak moves to the second-place game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Friday Tournament Recap: SoHi Stars & Kenai Kardinals
The Soldotna Star baseball team recorded a pair of victories on Friday in the Southcentral Conference double-back rounds with wins over Houston and Grace to advance the Stars into Saturday’s semi-final, third place game against the Homer Mariners. Game time set for 10 a.m.
The winner earns an automatic berth to the Division II ASAA State Baseball Championships.
The winner also will advance to the second-place game at 1:00 p.m. against
SoHi 16 – Houston 1
The Stars overpowered Houston 16-1 in 4.5 innings, scoring four runs in the first inning, three in the second, five in the third and four runs in the fourth inning. the Stars advanced to play Grace Christian.
SoHi 11 – Grace 3
The Stars used an 8-run, second inning to pull-away from the Grace Grizzlies enroute to a 11-3 win and a Saturday showdown with the Homer Mariners.
Grace opened with two runs in the first and a run in the second for a 3-0 lead. The Stars answered with eight runs on six hits in the bottom of the second and never looked back. SoHi’s Josh Pieh pitched a complete game allowing only three runs on five hits, throwing 103 pitches.
Homer 6 – Kenai 3
The Mariners defeated Kenai 6-3 to advance the Mariners to a third-place, semi-final against the Soldotna Stars.
