Anchorage Woman Arrested In Sterling Monday For DUI & Endangering Welfare Of A Child

A black 2015 Chevrolet pickup was stopped near milepost 81 of the Sterling Highway for speeding.

 

The incident happened in the early morning hours in Sterling on Monday June 7th around 5:31 a.m. where 43-year-old Monica Burnell of Anchorage was identified as the driver doing speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour, according to Alaska State Troopers. An investigation revealed that Burnell was driving the truck while impaired under the influence of alcohol.

 

The Alaska State Trooper dispatch reports that Burnell had two young children in the truck with her.

 

She was arrested for driving under the influence and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. She also was cited for speeding and for driving while drinking.

 

Burnell was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility.
