Kenai River Eliminated In Decisive Game Five 3-2 By Magicians

The Minnesota Magicians opened up a 3-0 lead in the second period and held-off a late charge by the Brown Bears for a 3-2 final game victory, taking the best of five series 3 to 2 and advancing to the next round of the Robertson Cup as the Midwest Division champions.

 

Minnesota 3 – Kenai River 2

Minnesota opened with a pair of first period goals and held the Brown Bears to seven shots on goal for a 2-0 Magician lead.  Minnesota added a lone goal four minutes into the second period for a 3-0.

Kenai River recorded its first goal in the second period off the stick of Peter Morgan.

The Brown Bears netted the only goal of the third period with Max Helgeson goal midway through the period.  The final 11 1/2 minutes were scoreless and the Magicians claim the Midwest Division title.

Luke Pavicich recorded 34 saves in the loss for Kenai River.
