Oilers Offense Strands 10 Runners In 5-2 Loss To Miners

The Peninsula Oilers failed to move runners and produce runs leaving 10 runners on base through nine innings; the Oilers matched the Miners with nine base hits in a 5-2 loss in Palmer to the Miners.

 

Mat-Su opened with a pair of first inning runs and added single runs in the second, third and fourth for a 5-0 advantage over the Oilers.  The Oilers plated one run in the seventh and one run in the ninth inning.  In relief, Alec Weigel held the Miners in check pitching four innings and allowing two hits and no runs with four strike outs.  Starter Luke Yacinich allowed five runs (all earned) on seven hits.

 

The Oilers return to Mulcahy Park in Anchorage to play the Anchorage Bucs on Tuesday, June 15th scheduled for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
