The Soldotna City Council passed an amended version of Ordinance 2021-013, which adopts the biennial operating budget and establishes appropriations for Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023. Municipal code states that council shall adopt a biennial operating budget, which is adopted after a public hearing and prior to the beginning of each biennium.
Councilman Jordan Chilson summed up the proposed amendments to be voted on:
“To that end, I would move to amend Ordinance 2021-013 Section 2 by one, increasing the general fund amount by $10,050 for a total of $11,504,858 and two, increasing the total FY22 appropriation accordingly to $14,302,409. Also, amending Section 3 by one, increasing the general fund amount by $10,404 for a total of $11,519,976. Two, increasing the utility fund amount by $600 for a total of $2,189,057. Three, increasing the equipment replacement fund amount by $20,000 for a total of $211,000 and four, increasing the total FY23 appropriation accordingly to $14,303,394.”
A public hearing on the recommended biennial operating budget for Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023 was held, with proper notice, on June 9th. A motion to amend the budget document passed unanimously and a motion to pass Ordinance 2021-013, which would adopt the Biennial Operating Budget and Establishing Appropriations for Fiscal Years 2022 and 2023 unanimously passed.
