Local Runners Race To Mixed Open Team Title In Alaska Relay

Navigationally Challenged, a mixed-relay team composed of Kenai Peninsula area runners, raced from Mirror Lake to downtown Seward in an overnight, two-day relay covering 200ish-miles in a relay-run format designed for teams of twelve people.

 

The Navigationally Challenged team consisted of: Patrick Metzger, Anna Metzger, Erin Carpenter, Kailey Mucha, Mike Bergoholtz, Ithaca Bergholtz, Holly Behrens, Rustin Hitchcock, Becca Hitchcock, Sean Goff, Darin Markwardt and Lee Frey.

 

The race began in the Chugiak Hills, through Eagle River and down the Glen Highway, through Anchorage, along the Coastal Trail, through the Hillside and onto Turnagain Arm, along the Seward Highway, all the way to downtown Seward.

 

Navigationally Challenged posted a total time of 24 hours, 24 minutes and 36 seconds with runners completing race segments ranging from 3.5 miles to 10.4 miles.
