Oilers Knock-Out Chinooks 10-5 in ABL Action

A four-run, third inning and a five-run, seventh inning powered the Peninsula Oilers past the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks 10-5 in Alaska Baseball League action on Saturday in Chugiak.

 

Oilers 10  – Chinooks 5

The Oilers offense recorded 10 runs and launched three homeruns enroute to a 10-5 victory over Chugiak.

In the third inning, John Olmstead opened with a double followed by a Garrett Pennington home run.  Bryce Marsh added a two-run home run and the lead 4-0.  On the mound, Mason Posey opened with four hitless innings for the Oilers.

In the seventh inning, Andrew Sojka hit a two-run home run and the Oilers built their lead to 10-1.

The Chinooks scored a run in the sixth, a run in the seventh and three runs in the eighth.

The Oilers offense totaled 10 runs on 15 hits, a season high in both categories.  The Oilers lead the ABL in home runs with 12.

Mason Posey earns the win with seven innings allowing two runs and recording five strikeouts.  Nolan Patterson records the save throwing two innings in relief.

 

The Oilers travel to Palmer to face the Mat-Su Miners on Sunday at 4 p.m.
