Runners left on base is the dominate stat of the 2021 Alaska Baseball League season for the the Peninsula Oilers as the Oilers leave 12 runners on base and fall 3-2 to the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks in ABL action on Wednesday in Chugiak.
Chugiak Chinooks 3 – Oilers 2
The Oilers left two runners on base in the fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth innings on Wednesday against the Chinooks, unable to drive in runs with two outs the Oilers fell 3-2 to the Chugiak-Eagle River Chinooks.
Chugiak scored two runs in the third inning and the Oilers scored a single run in the fifth on a RBI single by John Olmstead scoring Harry Novicki. The Oilers left two on base with a strike out to end the inning. Chugiak answered for a 3-1 lead.
In the eighth inning, Garrett Pennington scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a walk to make the score 3-2 Chinooks; the runners advanced to third and second and were left stranded with a two-out strike out to end the inning.
In the ninth inning, the Oilers again advance runners to first and third; however, with two outs were unable to plate the tying run. Final Score: Chinooks 3, Oilers 2.
The Oilers and Chinooks each recorded only four hits apiece for the game.
